How are your college years going? And have you ever thought about journaling during college?
College is often described as the time of your life—full of youth, the beginning of adulthood, and the years you will never forget. But to be real, it can also be overwhelming, confusing, and even heavy. Techniques like journaling come in handy to navigate the chaos. With a journal, we aim to make them the best years with the smallest damage possible.
As an engineering major, I understand how easy it is to lose control and get buried under loads of work. Life then becomes a loop of words—lectures, group projects, exams, stress, and endless assignments. I find myself going down that path every now and then, and I hate sinking into this routine. A routine that drains you and guarantees the way to burnout very fast. However, journaling is a tool I use to Fight back and stay grounded.
The benefits of journaling for college life (+journaling techniques)
True that college can be hectic at times, but we still create the best of memories amidst the chaos. And later, memories become so precious when they’re gone. When all we have left are photos and recollections!
One of the best benefits of journaling is its ability to keep your memories alive. With or without pictures, just writing down your feelings and current situations will keep the memory beautifully protected. Even little details like those late-night study sessions, spontaneous hangouts with friends, and the passing of an exam after almost losing your mind.
It also records your life eras and phases and helps you notice the growth you make. During college, you do not want to miss how you grow as a person. And keeping a journal is the perfect tool to record that.

Stay connected to your inner self
It is so easy to lose yourself during college. That’s a fact. The amount of work and infinite to-do lists are naturally so consuming. And with time, one loses his essence.
Journaling as a hobby allows you to process your emotions and get closer to yourself. It gives you the space to pause, reflect, and untangle the thoughts that might otherwise get lost in the deadlines. When you take the time to write, you reconnect with your values and deeper feelings. Things that are often overshadowed come back to the surface with similar tools.
I find this point to be so crucial for students. Daily repetitive life shouldn’t be a reason to forget who you are. Your real self, inner child, rich world, and complex identity should exist and blossom no matter how busy and occupied you are.
It’s fine to lose track sometimes, but never give up on your writing time and journaling sessions to stay connected.
Organize your time with bullet journals
Bullet Journaling is a system of planning/writing. It organizes both your life and mind with its different logs and styles. For college students, keeping a planner is beneficial, either to track school tasks or personal goals and habits. It becomes even easier to keep up with when made enjoyable.
So this is your sign to start journaling!
Personally, I like to make monthly logs most of the time to write down my goals, todos, and habit tracker. I add monthly reflections at the end of each to remember and celebrate my little achievements and growth. This also boosts the confidence of a student and makes college life smooth.
